back to blog overview

Ck-modelcars and modelissimo have launched another 1:18 model with Norev, which is limited to only 1,000 copies worldwide.

It is not the first special model that the two dealers have jointly brought to the market and which is available exclusively from them, but it is one of the most beautiful from the point of view of the blog's editorial: the blue-white lacquered model car of the Porsche 962 C is Made from zinc die-casting and perfectly matches the characteristics of the legendary racing car from Zuffenhausen; The overall appearance is 1: 1 with the model, which is a further development from the Porsche 956, which became necessary after criticism from America. Norev, modelissimo and ck-modelcars dedicate the result of their latest creation to the task car of Klaus Ludwig and Bob Wollek, who took part in the 1,000 kilometer race of the Nürburgring 1987 with the 962 C.

Looking back to 1987

From 1953 to 1983 the race on the north loop was carried out; With one exception only on the new Grand Prix circuit. The 1987 edition went into the history of motorsport as the 32nd race of this series and was won by Raul Boesel and Eddie Cheever in the Silk Cut Jaguar. For the model of our attractive racing car model it was not so happy despite the good genes in the technology and driver area: after 117 of the 221 laps to be driven the Joest Porsche failed. And that, after which the car lay long in the lead, but a broken gearshift fork put an end to the almost-Siegesfahrt. Of the 29 started cars, 16 were awarded to 15,000 spectators. The winner's team was in the warm weather 5:55: 53.120 hours on the road.

Ludwig with fastest race lap

The model of our model car - driven by the three-time Le Mans winner Klaus Ludwig - the 1.28.510 minutes and an average speed of 182.675 kilometers per hour, the fastest lap of this 8th race to the 1987 sports car racing championship. What is reason enough to secure one of the Modellautos in the beautiful outfit of the main sponsor Blaupunkt. The 962 C was a further development of the 956: this won all the driver and brand titles of the FIA ??sports car world championship from 1982 to 1984, but could not be used in the American IMSA racing series, because it does not comply in all its rules : The commissioners complained that the pedals were not behind the front axle and that the aluminum monocoque was missing a roll cage made of steel. What changed Porsche to the 962.
