On June 10th , 2015, we have already dealt with the different qualities in model cars in same scale. At the time, we compared the LaFerrari of Hot Wheels and Bburago 1:18 together. Today there are 2 model cars of the same manufacturer, but  with 2 different qualities : Bburago offers the standard range Race & Play and the so-called Signature Line , a good or a very good model car out of the house of the Italians into your showcase. The price difference: The less expensive line costs 39,95 Euro, the more expensive Signature-Version 59.95 euros. So it connects to the higher-priced model cars, and want  to stand against Kyosho, Minichamps & Co.. Does this work? We want to understand , where the difference between standard line and Signature of Ferrari California T is.

Ferrari California T in scale 1:18

Fans of the Italian cult brand know that the  Ferrari California styled by Pininfarina had its debut on October second , 2008  at the Paris Motor Show. Provided with a few changes , with a  so-called facelift and equipped with a new 3.9-liter turbo engine with 412 kW / 560 hp the  California T  presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2014  is  the first sports car with a turbocharged engine from Ferrari since the end of production of the F 40 in 1992;  with which the triumphant march  of Bburago began. The new V8 braces 755 Newton meters (Nm) maximum torque on the crankshaft. To reduce weight and fuel consumption, large parts of the body were made of aluminum . However, our model cars are still manufactured from diecast zinc and have opening doors and hoods as usual.

Tie for the exterior

Our first view is of the outer skin of models: They are no different, because the proportions and appearance of the model put both series of Bburago prototypically in the scale of 1:18 . The interior of the headlights is more detailed in the  Signature model . Keyword Spotlight: the coverage for both models is equally bad, not properly seated in the diecast environment and is no longer state of the art; the only deficiency though, however, who can blame on  the beautiful Italian cars. The California T belonging to the series of Race & Play has somewhat simpler replicas and aluminum rims. The small copies of the discs, however, are pretty much identical. In general, we have the impression that it is basically one and the same basis, which was just only revalued in details.

California T Race & Play for Kids, Signature for Dad

This impression is reinforced on the inside.  Bburago spends more time in order to reproduce the details of the instrument panel, dashboard and seats: The coloring is more knowledgeable, more complex and detailed in the Signature than  the Race & Play. Also the engine, there is a bit more silver color. For fans of model cars, the question is whether or not the extra expense of 20,00 Euro is justified, it is  in our view for the interior alone. We note that the overall impression of the Signature California has not yet reached the level of Minichamps-, AutoArt- or Kyosho miniatures in 1:18, but the author of this article chooses the more expensive of the two Bburago, for it has to be declared as the winner of this test. Skin and proportions coincide anyway, only the interior is  much better. If you don't care  or  want to give the California T to  the offspring  you don't get a bad model for 39,95 Euro. For detail-loving collectors the Signature is the better choice.
