A successful 2023 season lays behind Christoph Krombach. The founder of ck-modelcars had celebrated a class victory at the 24h Dubai and won the title in the 1b-class of the Porsche Endurance Challenge - in addition, he also was best-placed driver of a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS MR in the racing series.
Krombach has set himself a new challenge for the 2024 season: The modelcar entrepreneur is attacking the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In the first two NLS races of the season he completed Permit A in a BMW 128ti from Sorg Rennsport. The permit entitles Krombach to compete on the legendary race track with more powerful vehicles.
The Hessian did this for the first time at the ADAC 24h Qualifiers. Together with Richard Jodexnis and Bernhard Wagner, he drove a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport for the Sorg racing team. The vehicle started in the SP10 class, in which the homologated GT4 vehicles compete on the Nordschleife.
In the two four-hour races of the ADAC 24h Qualifiers, which are also part of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series, Krombach and his partners met ten opponents in the strong GT4 class. And the driver trio was able to cause a big surprise in Sunday's race! After seventh place on Saturday evening, the drivers of the Porsche with starting number #181 finished fourth in the class on Sunday! A result that no one expected before the weekend and which makes Krombach optimistic for the next races!
“The fascination of the Nordschleife is something very special. This is where, among other things, the legends that we produce as modelcars for the collector's showcase were born. A Stefan Bellof with the 956K and the 6:11.13min or a Timo Bernhard with the 919 Hybrid will never be forgotten,” said Krombach. “For me, the first priority is to learn, learn, learn. The Nordschleife is not comparable to regular race tracks and is a very special challenge. Now it’s time to accomplish this. It will certainly be very special at the 24-hour race with the many lights, the smell of barbecue and the ambience around the Nordschleife. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge.”
Krombach will also compete in the 24hrace in June with the GT4 Porsche.
