The 24 Hours of Le Mans of the year 1971 were completely under the sign of the sports car manufacturer Porsche from Stuttgart: After the first overall win, which was reached by the Porsche 917 in the previous year, a total of 33 Porsche went to the start of the 39th version of the Grand Prix d'Endurance les 24 Heures du mans; a record with 49 participants. Steve McQueen and the US Ambassador started the 9th race of the World Sports Car Championship in France. Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep won on the Porsche 917 KH with starting number 22 after 357 laps and 5.335,313 kilometers, setting a distance record valid until 2010. And the label CMR, known for its miniatures from historical motorsport, is now bringing modelcars to this vehicle, which are only available exclusively at modelissimo and ck-modelcars.de.

Like the previous year's winner, the Porsche 917 of this year was powered by a 5.0 liter twelve-cylinder, which however gave 463 kW / 630 hp to the rear drive in 1971. The tare was given with 830 kilograms; the top speed with 360 kilometers per hour. CMR is dedicating a scale 1:18 modelcar to the winner of this race, which was used by the Martini Racing Team. The miniatures come under the item number CMR135 as well as made of diecast and are part of every Porsche collection because they exactly match the appearance of their prototype with its short tail and its lines. The makers of CMR, who made their debut with the modelcars for the Mercedes-Benz W 125 Streamline from 1938 in November 2015, also deserve praise for the interior details.
