At the autograph session during this year's Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, fans and model car collectors were treated to a very special highlight: The model of the 2022 winning car met its big brother – the current Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo from SunEnergy 1 Racing. The striking orange Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with its flame design has always been a firm fan favorite, no matter which racetrack it competes on.

In 2022, the car with starting number 75, achieved its long-awaited overall victory. But that wasn't all: The team with Australian roots was part of a historic one-two-three finish for the Affalterbach-based brand. The car's impact wasn't solely due to its sporting achievements. The SunEnergy 1 Mercedes was also visually striking: The distinctive orange and black livery immediately stood out in the field. Eye-catching and unique designs have long been a tradition at this endurance classic Down Under. Many teams used the event to showcase unique and colorful car designs.

Behind the wheel of the winning car were Kenny Habul, Martin Konrad, Luca Stolz, and Jules Gounon. Gounon is now the most successful driver at the Mount Panorama Circuit with three overall victories. His joy at his second triumph was correspondingly immense: “This is a fabulous success, also for SunEnergy1 Racing and for Mercedes-AMG with the triple victory. We pushed to the limit to stay in front. Today we did it, and on this incredible racetrack. It's simply fantastic!” he exclaimed after crossing the finish line.

Throughout the twelve-hour race, the AMG GT3 Evo cars were consistently among the frontrunners. The event, which was reclassified as a Pro-Am race due to several postponements, was characterized by AMG dominance after the favored Audis dropped out of the lead lap one after another. In the end, the SunEnergy1 Mercedes prevailed, crossing the finish line with a lead of approximately nine seconds over its teammates from the Mercedes-AMG Team Craft Bamboo. This victory also marked a special moment for Mercedes-AMG: with three cars on the podium, the brand achieved a historic one-two-three finish.
