Reproduction of the tyre failure that forced Gilles Villeneuve, who had been leading at one point, to retire:

Villeneuve spun on the 47th lap, allowing Alan Jones to regain the lead. When Villeneuve's left rear tyre burst four laps later, the Canadian spun again and then tried to get to the pits on three wheels. As he had to complete an entire lap and barely reduced his speed in the process, his suspension was damaged to such an extent that he had to retire from the race in the pits.
