The 47th edition of the ADAC TOTAL 24 Hours at the Nürburgring seamlessly followed previous editions in front of 230,000 spectators. Tension, drama, tears of joy, bitter disappointments and in the end a surprise winner. In short: It was actually as always at Germany's unique motorsport highlight on the famous Eifel circuit. Even if there were only six changes at the top this time: It was never boring, especially the second rank changed permanently. Gas was given for 24 hours as if it were a sprint race. Fender duels between Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, Audi and SCG dominated the entire race. Only record winner BMW experienced a Waterloo, was eliminated before nightfall with all the top cars.The long time leading Manthey Porsche 911 brought itself for the deserved victory when pilot Laurens Vanthoor on Sunday morning with 172 km / h by a double yellow Zone roared, where a maximum of 120 km / h are allowed. A stop-and-go penalty of 5.32 minutes was the result. Phoenix Racing celebrated its fifth 24h Nürburgring victory with a zero-error job and a tactical masterpiece. With Audi, Porsche and Mercedes-AMG stood at the end of three different brands on the podium.

If there was still some rain on training Thursday, from Friday morning and for the rest of the weekend the sun shone along the asphalt band around the time-honored Raubritterburg. The fans once again transformed the Hocheifel into the largest camping site in the world. From whirlpools to turfs to the creative grandstand construction everything was there. "We simply have the best fans in the world," race director Walter Hornung said with pride.
