The 74th edition of the 24 Hours of Spa in 2022 was a true motorsport spectacle. In one of Europe's most prestigious endurance races, more than 60 GT3 cars battled for the coveted victory on the legendary Ardennes rollercoaster. The weather was changeable, strategy played a crucial role, and the Mercedes-AMG team AKKodis ASP ultimately prevailed in a race that remained undecided until the very last minute.

The victorious Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, car number 88, was driven by Raffaele Marciello, Daniel Juncadella, and Jules Gounon. After 536 laps, or 3,754 kilometers, the trio crossed the finish line 31.04 seconds ahead of their fellow Mercedes drivers from the GetSpeed ??team. Marciello delivered the decisive turning point just 20 minutes before the end of the race, taking the lead in a thrilling duel because his direct competitor, Maro Engel, had to make a splash-and-dash pit stop. This caused Engel's car, driven by Grenier and Buhk, to drop back to fourth place.
Marciello had already set a record in qualifying with his third consecutive pole position – and with a time of 2:16.375 minutes, he set the fastest GT3 lap ever recorded at Spa. Even during the race, the team relied on a well-thought-out pit strategy, employing different procedures, as was the case with the other AMG teams, ensuring that a Mercedes-AMG consistently led the field from the second half of the race onward. However, the ultimate winner remained uncertain until the very end.
