The Porsche 911 GT3 R of the latest model generation 992 is the fastest and most brutal that the customer sport department from Zuffenhausen currently has to offer. Powered by the traditional six-cylinder boxer engine (565 hp with a displacement of 4.2 liters), the 911 also impresses with its aerodynamic finesse.
Due to the placement of the engine in the rear area, the developers were forced to switch to a larger rear wing. Because: Unlike the competition with front or mid-engine concepts, there was less space for a diffuser due to the rear engine. Therefore, the large, striking rear wing is necessary to compensate for the lack of aerodynamics of the diffuser. Porsche's physical constraints give the customer sport racer an incomparable look that makes the hearts of true motorsport enthusiasts beat faster.
Qualifying went according to plan for the Falken Motorsports team. Nico Menzel (#44) needed 8:11.211 minutes to complete the 25.378-kilometer combination of the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife, securing an outstanding sixth place on the grid for himself and his teammates Joel Eriksson, Tim Heinemann and Martin Ragginger as the best-placed representative of the Zuffenhausen sports car brand. The sister car #33 with Klaus Bachler, Sven Müller and Alessio Picariello at the wheel followed in 14th place with a qualifying time of 8:12.599 minutes, which gave the Porsche team hope of a strong race result.
The vehicle of Menzel, Eriksson, Heinemann and Ragginger was the best Porsche for a long time during the first third of the race, within striking distance of the leading group, and was even on course for a podium finish at times. Around midnight, however, there was contact with an enemy during a lapping maneuver, which resulted in a high-speed spin and a short repair break. At the end of the two-hour race, the quartet was waved off in tenth place.
The race was more turbulent for the crew of the #33 vehicle. Contact in the early stages had already cost the leading group a lot of time. After an impressive recovery, however, the 911 was back in the top 15 after a short time. At around 3:30 a.m., the Falken Porsche was hit again - again, during a lapping maneuver with a slower vehicle, there was contact and subsequent contact with the guard rail, which meant that Bachler, Müller and Picariello had to retire.
The two faithful replicas of the Porsche 911 GT3 R in the striking color scheme of Falken Tires are produced in the usual high Ixo quality and reflect the originals as well as possible.
