In today's blog post, we present various models of the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R33) and the Honda NSX from the label Ebbro from the Japanese GT Championship. This championship is the JGTC (All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship), which took place since 1993 and was created as the successor to the Japanese Group C. The championship mainly uses touring cars of Japanese origin, but brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and BMW are also represented.
The GT500 (vehicles with around 650 hp) and GT300 (vehicles with around 500 hp) classes have existed since 1996. The Nissan Skyline GT-R from the 1998 season is offered by Ebbro in various paint finishes, as is the Honda NSX from the 1997 season. In addition to the championship car of the 1998 season in the legendary "Pennzoil paint finish" and the "Calsonic design" paint finish, which is also well-known in Europe, other paint finishes are also available in our shop. Some of the models in scale 1:43 will be familiar to game console fans from titles such as Gran Turismo.
The Ebbro models from our blog post today are replicas of vehicles from the GT500 class, which differs from the GT300 class by around 100 hp more power. The power is limited by air flow restrictors. Compared to other GT series, the regulations in the JGTC are rather relaxed.
Apart from the requirement that the GT vehicle should be as visually close as possible to the production vehicle, changes to the chassis and the replacement of the engine are permitted. The possibilities offered by the interpretation of the regulations make the JGTC one of the fastest GT series in the world.
While aerodynamic components such as spoilers and wings are strictly regulated, electronic driving aids such as ABS or traction and stability controls and the use of carbon brakes are completely prohibited.
The series' races are held in an annual championship that takes place mainly in Japan and uses tracks such as the Twin Ring Motegi, the Fuji Speedway or the Suzuka International Racing Course. There have been a few guest starts outside of Japan in the past, but with the exception of one race in Sepang, these have never been included in the official rankings.
The races are long-distance races with a distance of 250 km to 1000 km, during which both refueling stops and driver changes are carried out. The multi-class operation of the two classes, which are on the track at the same time, often results in exciting lapping maneuvers.
