Solido brings a timeless classic into your home showcases as a new form with the VW T1 Pick up. The diecast model is based on the classic with cult status from VW. The model with an extremely good price-performance ratio is available in our webshop in two versions. Those who tend to associate the VW T1 with the loyal “load donkey” for use in daily work will find what they are looking for with item number 421187900. This is a T1 in blue as a flatbed truck with a tarpaulin superstructure, such as that used by VW as a service vehicle. In addition to opening doors, the modelcar has steerable front wheels. With item number 421187800 the T1 pick-up comes in orange / white as a leisure vehicle. The tarpaulin structure is not required here. In addition to the steerable front wheels, in this version the tailgate can also be opened in addition to the doors. A surfboard is included as a special eye-catcher, which can be placed directly on the loading area to create a holiday mood.
The VW T1, which is also known as the lovely Bulli, was the first model in the VW bus series that is still in production today and is planned to be continued with the seventh model in the series in November 2021. To this day it is unclear whether the "Bulli" got its nickname because of the adjective "beefy", or whether the name is a combination of the words "bus" and "delivery van". The T1 was produced by VW 1.8 million times in various designs between 1950 and 1967 and is considered a symbol of the German economic miracle. At that time, the price of a T1 at around DM (old German currency) 5850 was around DM 150 higher than the price of a fully equipped Beetle. Today a well-preserved T1 can easily cost 15 times the original price.
In 1950, the power of the T1 was 25 hp from a 1100 ccm³ engine. Over the years, the power increased so that the last T1 in 1967 were equipped with a 1493 ccm³ engine, which developed 44 hp and a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour. The VW T1 shaped entire generations. At the beginning of the 1950s, a decade in which mass tourism began, it was one of the first vehicles that was suitable for traveling and staying overnight in a car. In the decades that followed, the T1 was an integral part of the hippie movement. The VW T1 thus combines economic success with openness and diversity.
