The first round of the highly competitive GT-racing series, in wich more than 30 super sport vehicles compete for a good placement in 2020, starts the up coming weekend on July 31st to August 2nd at the Lausitzring. As in the previous years, ck-modelcars.de is on board of the Team75 Bernhard and crosses the fingers for the ladies and gentlemen from Landstuhl / Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, but as real athletes we are also happy about good positions from other teams. Since 2017, the Lausitzring is part of the calendar of the ADAC GT Masters. The 3.478 km route is made up of parts of the oval course and sections in the infield. Due to the corona crisis, the races at the Lausitzring take place without the participation of spectators according to a hygiene and infection protection concept developed and officially approved by the ADAC GT Masters.
The races will be broadcasted on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm live on Sport1 (German TV-channel). Additionally, they can be viewed as livestream on sport1.de, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/adac: If that's not a service! Thus the endless waiting for the season start has an end: Due to corona, also the team around the two-times endurance world champion Timo Bernhard was put through a long test of patience, but the waiting time, however, was used extensively with tests in Hockenheim, in Oschersleben, at the Nürburgring and at the Lausitzring: Both Porsche 911 GT3 R are optimally prepared. In the car with starting number 17 sits Porsche-works driver Simona De Silvestro. The Swiss is a newcomer in the GT Masters. Her teammate Klaus Bachler (29) from Austria on the other hand, is an old hand.
Bachler has been driving for the group from Palatinate for the third year in a row. In the sister car with starting number 18, a well-known pilot is positioned with David Jahn (28) from Leipzig: In 2016 David was the vice champion with the KÜS Team75 Bernhard. His teammate is youngster Jannes Fittje (21) from Langenhain, who most recently gained GT experience in the Porsche Carrera Cup. The goal is clearly defined: the season starts with a decent score. Team boss Timo Bernhard said: “The official GT Masters test at the Lausitzring was like a dress rehearsal for us to get the new team in tune with each other in 2020. The competition is very strong as expected and it will be a close affair for the whole season. The Lausitzring has not been part of the calendar in recent years. But we feel well prepared!"
Who is new in the ADAC GT Masters?
Bernhard emphasizes that it fulfills the team with pride again being part with two Porsche 911 GT3 R and top drivers together with the partners of this top-class championship, which is also described as the league of the super sports cars. The most spectacular newcomer in the starting field is the Bentley Continental GT3 of T3-HRT-Motorsport. The Mercedes-AMG-teams will compete with an advanced vehicle. HTP-Winward Motorsport, the team Zackspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing as well as Toksport WRT rely on the Evo-version of this racing car. The team WRT from Belgium, as one of the most successful GT3-teams internationally makes its debut in the ADAC GT Masters. Tire partner Pirelli equipps the field with new tires this year. We are looking forward to the modelcars of the year 2020 and refer to existing miniatures from previous years.
