On Thursday morning, the magazine Modellfahrzeug (German magazine) from the publishing house Delius Klasing in the Transparent Factory of Volkswagen in Dresden announced for the 29th time the winners of the readers' vote for model vehicle of the year. In addition, the best brands were also elected. A high-class event: Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design at Volkswagen Brand and Executive Director, gave the welcome speech to the industry get-together attended by more than 100 guests this year. The e-Golf is currently rolling in the Transparent Factory, and the ID.3 from the production lines from 2020 onwards. In addition, an "electrifying Volkswagen experience" was raffled among all participants in the readers' choice. Florian Urbitsch, Head of Product Communications at Volkswagen AG, presented this award to lucky reader winner Marco Zawade from Peine.
The sizes of choice this year ranged from model railway scale 1:87 to size 1:8. Readers were able to vote in a total of 22 categories. The Porsche 911 in its original form as a coupe by Schuco in 1:87 is currently the cheapest winning model with a selling price of just under 10.00 euros. The most expensive model this year is the 1:8 kit of the Volkswagen 1303 Cabriolet from the newcomer Legrand with 698.00 euros. The more than a meter long Mercedes-Benz Actros as Eurolohr-car-stransporter in scale 1:18 by NZG was chosen by the readers of the trade magazine Modellfahrzeuge - own spelling MODELL FAHRZEUGE - as the winner in the category 1:18 of current role models and at the same time also for the "super model of the year 2019"; loyal readers of our blog know this modelcar very well.
The huge, in the details unbeatably well-built truck of the Nuremberg company NZG is considered in this size as a flagship project and thus boosts the topic around collecting on models of large commercial vehicles on this scale. This year, the brand Schuco, which exclusively launched the 1:43 model of a Porsche 356 coupe with a matching wooden frame for the Hans-Peter Porsche Traumwerk, won the innovation prize. Model vehicle editor-in-chief Andreas A. Berse explains this readers' vote: "The aluminum bodies of this so-called Gmünd Porsche were hammered out of aluminum over such a wooden trestle. So the model also tells a story from the founding time of Porsche. A worthy sponsor of the Innovation Award!" The award for the "Top Exemplary Brand" goes to Mercedes-Benz again in 2019 - for the ninth time in a row!
