It fits quite well that we join with best wishes the trip to Kyalami, which our friends from the KÜS Team75 Bernhard do on the weekend: On the legendary track near the South African metropolis Johannesburg the team from Bruchmühlbach-Miesau takes the final of the Intercontinental GT Challenge IGTC, so at the 9 hours of Kyalami. At their first misison on another continent, the team in the Pro-category of course relies on the proven Porsche 911 GT3 R.
In the cockpit of the car, which we know from the ADAC GT Masters and which goes to the start at around 368 kW / 500 hp, there are three Porsche works drivers: Romain Dumas (41) from France, Sven Müller (27) from Mainz (GER) and Dirk Werner (38) from Würzburg (GER). Dirk has fifth place in the drivers' championship and still has title chances, because he is only ten points behind the leader. The motivation to achieve a top result is correspondingly high. Porsche is also aiming for victory in the Manufacturers' Championship. The KÜS Team75 Bernhard finished the ADAC GT Masters 2019 as the best Porsche. A good sign? In the pits: Team owner Timo Bernhard, Porsche works driver, two-time endurance champion and two-time overall Le Mans winner. He is assisted by his father, team boss Rüdiger Bernhard, and team manager Klaus Graf.
New design for South Africa
The KÜS Team75 Bernhard brings its Porsche with a special paint for the race on the modernized former Grand Prix circuit at the start. The team's characteristic colors are combined with the national flag of South Africa to honor the return of international motorsport to Kyalami. The finals of the unofficial GT World Championship IGTC are heavily staffed and see numerous factory-supported teams at the start, nine different manufacturers are represented. The race will start on Saturday at 1:00 pm local time / 12:00 CET. It will be broadcast live on the internet at www.intercontinentalgtchallenge.com. Before we reproduce the O-tones of the drivers and the team leader, we would like to point out the link embedded below, which leads you to the modelcars of the KÜS Team75 Bernhard.
What do the drivers say about the commitment? Sven Müller: "Kyalami is my first race for the KÜS Team75 Bernhard and also my first race in South Africa ever!" He is very happy, so Müller, for an exciting season finale. Romain Dumas: "I am very happy that I can drive in Kyalami for my longtime teammate Timo and Klaus. I hope we get a strong result in the last race of the year on this legendary track." Dirk Werner: "The race in Kyalami will be a great experience for sure, it's my first trip to South Africa, so I do not know the track yet. But we are still in the middle of the title race, so there is tension and I hope to return home with a title." We expressly share this wish of our friends!
Timo Bernhard to the #9hKyalami
And last we hear team owner Timo Bernhard: "I will be in South Africa for the first time, it is also the first overseas race for our KÜS Team75 Bernhard. I've heard a lot positive things about Kyalami, the track is a true classic. With our drivers Romain, Sven and Dirk we have an excellent driver set-up and with the Porsche 911 GT3R a very good race car. In addition, our regular team from the ADAC GT Masters is there, with whom we put our car in the front row at the 24 Hours of Spa and fought for a podium place for a long time. I think we have good conditions with it. We look forward to Kyalami and will give everything there." We keep our fingers crossed for "our" mission in South Africa!
