After his debut in the Formula König 1987 and the victory of the title in the Formula Ford 1988, Michael Schumacher conquered the Formula 3 in 1989 and with it a place in the WTS-Team of Willi Weber. At the first test drive on the Nürburgring, the later sevenfold Formula 1-World Champion, came into the barrier in the fifth round, but Weber recalled the good performance of Schumacher in the Formula Ford and held on to him. This even went so far that Weber compensated the missing money from sponsors through his own investments and in this way managed to gain his management contract, which guaranteed him 20% of Schumacher's income over a period of ten years. Schumacher fulfilled expectations and won the German Championship in the Formula 3 and the international race of the Macao Grand Prix in 1990.
This prestigious event has been held at the Guia Circuit since 1954 at the end of the year and includes races for touring cars, GT3 race cars, motorcycles and Formula 3. Schumacher's Formula 3 Championship and Macau victory are reminiscent of the modelcars of the Reynard-Spiess F903 in scale 1:18, which contributed Minichamps to the 25th Anniversary Collection. The red miniature for the item number 517901805, which was designed in the style of the cigarette brand West, recreates Schumacher's car in Formula 3 in 1990 to scale. Sabre Automotive Ltd. was founded in 1973 by Adrian Reynard and was the nucleus of Reynard Motorsport, the world's largest manufacturer of racing cars of the Formula 3000, the Formula Ford as well as the Formula Opel and the Champ Car series until the bankruptcy of 2001.
