Yesterday we presented you a new model car from the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1969 in scale 1:12 and today the miniature is following to the winner of the year after; also in this size and thus perfectly matching the models of CMR's Ford GT40: The Porsche 917 K. Used by Porsche Salzburg and the team Porsche Konstruktionen K.G. the race drivers Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann picked up the first overall victory on the Sarthe with this race car. With this boom and the demand, which the type 917 experiences at the model car-makers and the fans, it is not surprising that now also Norev produces miniatures to this model. And - one thing is anticipated - in outstanding detail and build quality. The care taken by the French from Vaulx-en-Vaulin near Lyon is fantastic!
But in the end, we do not know that any differently, because regardless of whether in 1:43, 1:18 or even 1:12, Norev always does an excellent job. Porsche will surely recall the first of the 19 overall victories in the face of this model: the appearance of the line management is perfect. The glazing of headlamps and windows are immaculately; almost too good for the handcrafted role models. The decoration of the model is no cause for complaint. In contrast to the earlier mentioned model cars from CMR, the Ford GT40, the Porsche of Norev however comes from Diecast manufactured to collectors; Zinc die casting as the main material instead of Resine. Not disadvantageous, but in the case of this model does not offer the advantage of opening parts.
Second Version in coloures of Gulf
Attention to the details: For example. the interior of the headlights, the replica of the rear axle construction and the detailed interior. Wheels and tires as well as engine and transmission unit are convincing: a top grade for the miniature with a length of 35 centimeters and the article number 127501. By the way, in the version with the start number 20 under article number 127500 - in the same way that Joseph "Jo" Siffert and Brian Redman competed for John Wyer Automotive Engineering at Le Mans in 1970. Last year's winner with Ford has put the 917 with his experience on the right track, even though teh car was not easy to handle at high speed. The No. 23 with Herrmann and Atwood won the rain race in 1970 with the 4.9-liter twelve-cylinder and its 442 kW / 600 hp as the first of seven rated vehicles; 51 had started.
