Since 1963, Maserati has been combining technology from the sport of motorsport in the body dress of a sedan with the name Quattroporte. This series of the sports car manufacturer never found the distribution of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or a BMW 7er, but buyers with this vehicle get something completely exclusive; Something they could stand out from the crowd of luxury limousine and SUV drivers and - today - as never before. The Maserati Quattroporte of the present has deposited the susceptibility in the technique of earlier years and now offers a processing quality, which astonishes: Noble materials, where the prospect looks. Exterior as well as interior are designed in an appealing, racy design of Italy, which has converted the small series label BBR skilfully into the scale 1:18. We take a look at two modellautos with strictly limited models.
Yes, two miniatures are the BBR to the lured Maserati Quattroporte has: on the one hand in the version GranSport, on the other hand, inspired by the model GranLusso. What is the difference between them? For those looking for more exclusivity and luxury, choose a quattroporte in the GranLusso equipment. Externally recognizable at the chrome inserts in the bumpers, the side panels in car color, black brake pads and elegant 20-inch wheels in the Mercurio design. His interior comes from the leading fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna. By using Italian silk in the interior, Maserati has a unique feature, which makes the company the only car manufacturer to offer silk in the vehicle interior.
The differences in detail
Further interior details of the GranLusso are noble wood, a leather steering wheel with wooden inlays, electric pedal adjustment, electric sun blind, four-zone automatic climate control and heated seat at the front and rear. The GranSport is a sporty addition to the Quattroporte range. The exterior features include special front and rear bumper with exclusive elements in glossy black as well as car paint lacquered side aprons, 21-inch titano wheels and red brake calipers. In the interior, the dynamics are expressed by sports seats, shift paddles, stainless steel pedals, a new sports steering wheel and applications in black pianos. BBR has transferred these details to the two Modellautos in an outstanding manner. But the changes to the exterior also make our approval clear.
From the redesigned radiator grille to the LED rear lights, the newly designed front and rear bumper, and the revised Maserati three ventilation slots on the sides, all relevant details have been taken into account. Frameless doors provide the appearance of a coupé, according to the manufacturer, but since the BBR model cars are made of Resine plastic, the doors and hoods remain closed and we do not see anything about the interior of the entrance. The chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes and the integrated rear spoiler are well hit. BBR paid a lot of attention to the Air Shutter behind the radiator grill, which controls the airflow through the cooler and reduces the air resistance: the design of the radiator grill crowns this model car.
The basic data on technology
Of course, we would also like to take a look behind the grill, even if this is only theoretical because of the non-opening hood: in the quattroporte can be chosen between three drives: the 301 kW / 410 HP strong 3.0-liter twin turbo -V6 and the 390 kW / 530 hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 are both gasoline. In addition, a 202 kW / 275 hp 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel unit is available. It is controlled by an automatic transmission from ZF. The maximum speeds range from 252 to 310 kilometers per hour. In keeping with the state of the art, a ramp warning system, blind spot assist and cross-traffic warning system, lane change warning as well as Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go function on board. In the model, of course, nothing is to be seen, but what we get from BBR is a feast for the eyes, which seduces to swarm.
