He is bright, fast, and legendary: Manthey Racing's "Grello" Porsche is one of the most iconic cars at the Nürburgring. The striking Porsche 911 GT3 R demonstrated its place among the top performers at the 2024 24 hour race – even though under exceptional circumstances. What began as a thrilling endurance race ultimately ended as a race against the elements. Ixo has now dedicated an equally special model in scale 1:18 to this special event, painstakingly recreated the striking paint scheme.

The "Grello" – a portmanteau of the English words "green" and "yellow" – once again represented the characteristic paint scheme in 2024, with which Manthey Racing not only stands out visually but also consistently impresses in terms of driving performance. At the wheel of the number 911 car in 2024 were several drivers from the world's elite of GT racing: Laurens Vanthoor, Thomas Preining, Kevin Estre, and Ayhancan Güven. The team from the Eifel region established itself among the leading group right from the start of the race. However, the race took an abrupt turn: It had to be suspended at 11:22 PM on Saturday evening due to thick fog and several incidents on the track. Despite hopes for an improvement in the weather, the race was postponed several times. It wasn't until around 1:30 PM on Sunday afternoon that five formation laps were completed. However, a regular restart was not held. The race was finally red-flagged around 3:00 PM. Thus, the classification was settled based on the interim results, and the Manthey Racing "Grello" officially took second place. A bittersweet victory in a race that had little chance to realize its full potential.

All the more important is the new collector's model from Ixo, preserving this special moment for motorsport fans. The Porsche 911 GT3 R in scale 1:18 has been faithfully recreated, from the aggressive front apron to the aerodynamic side panels and the characteristic rear wing. Particularly impressive is the precisely executed color combination of neon green and neon yellow, which unfolds its full effect even in model scale. Inside, numerous details of the cockpit can be discovered – from the roll cage to the finely crafted instruments.

Manthey Racing has been inextricably linked to the Nürburgring legend for years. Numerous victories and dramatic races have made the team an institution. Second place in the 2024 "Fog Race" may not go down in history as a classic triumph, but it nevertheless represents another chapter in the history of the storied team.
