The Manta B is the "favorite" of Nordschleife fans every year at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. The white, red, and yellow Opel with starting number 120 purred through the Green Hell as usual in the 2018 season, once again providing goosebumps.
While the GT3 cars battle for overall victory, the Manta remains the rebellious counterpart. 2018 marked the cult Opel's 20th start at the Eifel Marathon. It was driven by 1984 DTM champion Volker Strycek, motorsport veteran Peter Hass, Jürgen Schulten, and team boss Olaf Beckmann.
The Opel Manta B originally dates back to 1981 and has been lovingly optimized for the racetrack over the decades without losing its classic charm. Under the hood is a two-liter four-cylinder engine with a whopping 255 hp, combined with a sequential gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
The team ended the 2018 race in the pits with an impending engine failure and didn't make it to the finish line. Nevertheless, the Opel with the foxtail was celebrated like a rock star by the fans. The Kissling Motorsport team and Olaf Beckmann thus prove that with a lot of passion, know-how, and North German humor, history can be made even without factory support.
The model in scale 1:18 by WERK83 of the 2018 Opel Manta with starting number 120 and the legendary foxtail was crafted with the utmost attention to detail and brings a piece of motorsport history to the collector's shelf.
