Not every vehicle that was ever built gets a modelcar. How does WERK83 choose which cars to release as a model?
There are different criteria. On the one hand, whether the models already existed. And if yes, how high the demand is or how many models are currently on the market. This plays an important role in our considerations. Of course, the primary aim is always to close gaps with collectors, and the IROC has not really existed as a modelcar in scale 1:18 until now.
What makes the new models so special?
I think the special thing about it is the variety – for example of colors. Although all cars have the same basic shape, the different colors make each model unique. The US cars with their US stickers immediately come to mind. That's just cult for me! Another point is that we also produced the road version of it at the same time - i.e. the cars that were exported to the USA at the time. The collectors can therefore already look forward to the next delivery wave in which we will bring these vehicles onto the market.
Are you proud of the result?
Definitely! A lot of development work went into the whole series. It's an absolutely great feeling that we're bringing the street and racing versions to the market together. I'm very happy that we have a nice variety of colors for the home collector's showcase.
What is your personal favourite one?
That's, of course, difficult to answer, since every car is a masterpiece in its own way. But there is a special story behind Mark Donohue's winning car. He was the first IROC Champion and the orange colorway has achieved iconic status in the scene. It will definitely end up in my showcase!
