We dedicate the beginning of our series to Audi's commitment to prototypes. It was the prestige project of the company from Ingolstadt for almost two decades. The brand with the four rings not only used the fascination of Le Mans to advertise its road vehicles. Above all, it was about drumming up advertising for the in-house diesel technology.
In 2006, a diesel engine was found in the winning vehicle for the first time, for example. Audi Sport Team Joest won three times in a row with the Audi R10 TDI – most recently in 2008. Rinaldo Capello, Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen beat the competition from Peugeot in a neck-and-neck race. The victory was so emotional that both Ixo and Spark released the vehicle as a model in scale 1:43.

Although Peugeot won the following year, it was never really on an equal footing with Audi overall. Constant further development and new models ensured success in Le Mans and the associated series such as the Le Mans Series in Europe or the American Le Mans Series over the years. The successor models Audi R15 TDI and Audi R18 TDI are also available in the shop.
