The highlight of the season for the team from Barweiler if of course the 24-hour race in the "Green Hell", where the team regularly competes with two Porsche 911 GT3 R. 

Let us take a quick look back into the past: In 2005, Klaus Abbelen founded the Frikadelli Racing team. His wife Sabine Schmitz was of great importance right from the start, as she is the only woman to have celebrated overall victory twice in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The design of the Porsche was always particularly striking. As the owner of the meat products manufacturer Abbelen, a large meatball (German: Frikadelle) can be seen on the car, giving the team its name. Rounded off by a glass of early Kölsch (Beer), the cars are unmistakable.

Right from the beginning, the team had celebrated numerous successes in the Nürburgring Longdistance-Series and so it is not surprising that the team has also been supported by factory drivers for many years. The number of meatballs was doubled and the team competed in the 24-hour race with two Porsche 911 GT3 R. 

One vehicle, traditionally the starting number 30, continued to be driven by team owner Abbelen and strong Pro-Am-racing drivers. On the second car with number 31, four professionals were behind the wheel and fought for the overall victory. And despite numerous successes in the NLS and in the 24h qualifiers, luck was never on Frikadelli Racing's side at the season's highlight.

In recent years, the team has also dared to look beyond the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and competed in prestigious international long-distance races. In addition to the 24-hours of Daytona, the meatball also competed for the first time in the world's largest GT3 race, the 24h of Spa, in 2020, where it took a strong eighth place in the overall classification with Jörg Bergmeister, Frédéric Makowiecki and Dennis Olsen.

The manufacturer IXO has numerous vehicles of Frikadelli in their assortment from previous years. The models are produced in the scales 1:43 and 1:18 and in the usual high quality.
