Last year, the company of Christoph Krombach had won six awards at the "Modelcar Oscar" and was at the very front at the choice of the "Supermodel of the year" for the first time. This year, too, the models to choose from are very diverse. Voting runs until the end of September.
Six nominations with five different models: This is the starting point for the ck-modelcars projects in the 32nd readers' poll for "Model Car of the Year", initiated by the specialist magazine "Modellfahrzeug" (Modelcar). The double nomination of the Ford Capri in the Jägermeister design by WERK83 is particularly pleasing for ck-modelcars. "With the Capri, we're not only nominated in the Classic 1:18 category, we're also up for election for the super model of the year. That makes us proud, because WERK83 is a new label that was only founded last year," says ck-modelcars Managing Director Christoph Krombach. In 1982, Klaus Ludwig clinched two victories in the German Racing Championship with the striking, orange Capri and finished fourth overall. The Jägermeister look enjoys cult status in motorsport circles. This is one of the reasons why the Capri has been so well received in the webshop so far.
The nominated model in the impressive Diverse Scales category is also impressive: the 1982 Le Mans victorious Porsche 956, from manufacturer CMR in scale 1:12. With this superior 956, Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell led the Zuffenhausen delegation to an unchallenged triple victory at the Sarthe.
Of course, models in smaller scales are also represented. The Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 is available in the Classic category, manufactured by CMR on a scale of 1:43. In 1987, Walter Röhrl won Pikes Peak with the modified Group B monster from Ingolstadt, securing the sixth consecutive victory of Audi in the legendary hill climb in Colorado. Röhrl set the first winning time below the 11-minute mark in 10:47 minutes.
There are also two models from modern racing times. In 2019, Ford retired from the GTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The four Ford GT wore retro designs of the late 1960s successful Ford GT40. The scale 1:43 Ixo car in the blue and orange Gulf colors has been nominated in the category Current Large Series. In the category Current 1:18, Ixo has a special Falken Porsche from 2018 in the line-up: the test vehicle for the latest expansion stage of the GT3 911er, which the Falken team presented in a camouflage design at the seventh VLN race start brought.
