It is already considered a suprise for 2021 among the collectors: The label CMR, which was awarded with four prizes last December at the readers choice of the magazine "Modellfahrzeug des Jahres" ("Model car of the year"), has taken on the reduction of the Mercedes-Benz O 317 as racing transporter in scale 1:18 as amazing miniatures with lots of details. The available models under item number CMR154 have wonderfully worked out, surprisingly numerous functional parts as well as a processing that leaves nothing to be desired. This begins with the overall harmonious appearance of the lines, the design of the add-on parts such as headlights, radiator grille, windshield wipers and exterior mirrors and ends with a fully functional, fold-out loading ramp.
With the role model of the miniature to the Mercedes-Benz O 317 racing transporter from the year 1968, the motorsport department found an opportunity to bring body parts, engines and transmissions to the race tracks, on which the Porsche 908 went to the start in short or long version. The modification based on the high-floor Mercedes-Benz O 317 bus powered by a six-cylinder diesel was carried out by the bodywork company Robert Schenk from Stuttgart-Feuerbach. The miniatures are now the option for collectors to add a visually attractive eye-catcher to their showcases. And thus saving space, because the modelcars of the racing transporter can be loaded with two vehicles via the ramps; as shown in the pictures. However, these are not included in the price of the miniatures of the van.
In addition to both front doors, of which the function allows a look into the cockpit of the vehicle, the modelcars allow the collectors also the view through the side loading door into the cargo space. The tailgate exists of two wings. At first glance, you can see how sophisticated the technology of the folded loading ramp has been. The miniatures measure an impressive 60 centimeters in length; if the ramp is fully unfolded, it is 80 centimeters. The width of the O 317 racing transporter in format 1:18 is 14 centimeters, whereby the measurements were taken without mirrors, because these are included separately with the models with correctly reproduced sponsor stickers and logos. The miniatures measure around 19 centimeters in height; really impressive, isn't it? The editors recommend the purchase and wish you a Happy Easter!
