Oxford-white and racing-red, this are the color designations of both modelcars of the brand new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Fast Track of the vintage 2020 by Solido, which the editorial staff of this blog briefly mentioned in the report of the novelties of the French for 2021 and were delivered shortly afterwards under the item numbers S1805904 as well as S1805903. With this article, the team of ck-modelcars.de wants to go into a little more detail with both miniatures and role model, because this is a proper super sports car with fascinating performance data. In contrast to the models, the GT500 Fast Track for the street are not available as standard from Ford for Germany; one more argument to place the affordable diecast-versions with openable doors in the showcase.
And the reference to the doors that can be opened brings the editors to light and shadow: because apart from the steerable front wheels, these are the only functional parts that the makers from Josselin in France give the two Mustangs on their way. So the highlight under the bonnet of the prototype remains under lock and key: an eight-cylinder with 5.2 liters displacement from the GT350 base; but a V8 that is powered by a Roots compressor in the GT500 Fast Track: The use of the compressor brings the hand-built drive set to 567 kW / 771 hp with a maximum torque of 847 Newton meters (Nm). This power pack is shifted with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission from the Ford GT. The manufacturer limits the top speed to 290 kilometers per hour; in a little more than 3.0 seconds the Ford is on 100.
But what is it all about the designation Fast Track: This referrs to the handling-package for the race track at extra charge, which amongst other things includes a radically drawn front bumper with corresponding splitter as well as the GT4-wing on the rear. As if the GT500 didn't already differ enough from the original GT350: The front wheel arches on the GT500 are wider, as is the radiator grille, which is also taller. The openings on the front are twice as large as on the GT350, says the car manufacturer, who gives the grille an upright Cobra. Solido has taken on the braking system in an exemplary manner: Its original diameter of 420 millimeters can be seen from the appearance of the modelcars. In general: The appearance of the lines of the miniatures leaves nothing to be desired: Well done, Solido!
