The editorial staff of this blog and thus the team of ck-modelcars.de brings up a rare topic for the start of the week: Namely the option of being able to really live out the passion for a specific model with a wide range of products based on its role model. It is about the Porsche 917/20, with which the race drivers Willi Kauhsen and Reinhold Joest competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1971 and which became an unforgettable legend with its pork half design; so much so that the Porsche works team used a Porsche 911 RSR in this livery for the 86th edition of the endurance race in 2018. Apart from the models based on the role models from 1971 and 2018, fans now have the opportunity to enrich the showcases and everyday life with various accessories.

Michael Christensen, Kevin Estre as well as Laurens Vanthoor make up the crew of the Porsche 911 RSR with the starting number 92 to the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and competed in this constellation for the Porsche GT team in the category LMGTE Pro. The 4.0 liter big six-cylinder, equipped with tires from Michelin, finished the race in front of 269,000 spectators after 344 driven laps on position 15 in the overall rating and became class winner. Ixo got it, to transfer the line management as well as the appearance of this pink-color wrapped role model perfectly to the modelcars, meets painting and printing in a way that is technically top-quality. The details of the 1:18 scale diecast models with item number LEGT18003 are also impressive!

In this point they correspond to the legendary role model: Willi Kauhsen and Reinhold Joest competed in the 39th edition of Le Mans - held in 1971 as mentioned above - for the Martini International Racing Team in the S 5.0 class and received the Porsche 917/20 entrusted, which caused a sensation as a one-off: According to the minutes of a meeting in Zuffenhausen on June 22nd, 1970, a “coupe with less drag than today, but with the same downforce” was to be developed for the Le Mans race. The result was a combination of short and long tail versions with revised aerodynamics and a particularly wide body, which Porsche had developed in cooperation with the French company SERA. Its twelve-cylinder remained unchanged and, like the other Porsche 917s, developed 442 kW / 600 hp.

After a win in the preparatory race, the so-called "Sau" or "Pig" prototype retired in fifth position in the main race due to an accident. Its design is based on the idea of Porsche-designer Anatole Lapine: It is precisely this that now serves as the basis for the accessories. First there is the two-piece set of long drink glasses, which under item number WAP0506800M917 can embellish everyday life as well as the showcase. This should also accommodate the modelcars from Minichamps in format 1:18, which, under 180716924, retell the dirty version of the race in an edition of 1,128 units. The diecast miniatures offer opening doors and a hinged engine cover. However, this also applies to the clean version (180716922), which Minichamps has limited to just under 540 pieces; also from diecast with the aforementioned functional parts.

In 2018, Porsche celebrated the 70th birthday since the foundation of the company and thus brought the 911 RSR in pork half design again to Le Mans. What better way to celebrate that than with a real style T-shirt? Taking up the look of this vehicles, exactly this is available under item number WAP433-S at ck-modelcars.de. Decorating the room next to your showcase with the set of two posters to the Porsche 917 "Pink Pig" that each measure 50 x 70 centimeters and delivered rolled up under number WAP0924500M917, would be great, wouldn't it? For those who want it really big, the 36 centimeter long miniatures of the Porsche 917/20 in scale 1:12 by CMR are a top offer: the winner "Modellauto of the year 2020" in the category M of the readers choice of the model vehicle magazine (Modellfahrzeug). Conclusion: ck-modelcars.de is the official paradise for pink pig fans!
