For Marco Wittmann, the season of the DTM 2019 had started tailor-made: At the season start at the Hockenheimring, which took place on May 4th, the racing driver from Fuerth was on the very top of the podium; started from the pole position. After a total of 18 races on nine racing weekends, he finished the year with position 3 in the overall rating. A positive result, at which the motor sportsman can look back also because of the modelcars in scale 1:18: At the end of last week, Norev delivered the miniatures that retell BMW Team RMG's BMW M4 DTM 2019. The model, which is painted in the colors of the sponsor Schaeffler, goes on sale under item number 80432466058; at the same time as the identical vehicle of the BMW Team RBM by Joel Eriksson (80432466060). Reason to take a closer look at the modelcars.
The French from Norev from Vaulx-en-Vaulin not far from Lyon are among the most experienced experts in building scale modelcars. So it comes as no surprise that the lines and details of the BMW M4 DTM reproduce the look and feel of the model exactly down to the last detail. The front bumpers with the splinters above, the design of the BMW kidney grille and headlights, the exterior mirrors that are used across all series and the gigantic rear wing are perfectly crafted to match the role models. The BMW M4 DTM has been built and used in the DTM since 2014. The race car looks similar to the production vehicle, but that's pure show: The car is built on a standardized monocoque made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic CFRP with an integrated 120 liter fuel tank.
Also integrated is a roll cage from steel. The V8 from the first years of the BMW M4 DTM was replaced by a four-cylinder with 2.0 liter displacement and turbocharger for the season 2019, which provides 456 kW / 620 hp for Wittmann & Co. As already mentioned at the beginning, Marco Wittmann finished the season in 3rd place overall; Booked 202 points in his account. Winner René Rast reached 322 points with the Audi. The Swede Joel Eriksson, who has only been active in the DTM since 2018, did not make it past 11th place overall with his BMW M4 DTM and 61 points. The third run, held in Zolder, was his best result with second place. The last race took place in the pouring rain again in Hockenheim. Marco Wittmann became the best-placed BMW driver in the 2019 DTM thanks to his podium finish in the last race.
