The series C 167 from Mercedes-Benz serves as a role model for a cooperation between the modelcar manufacturer iScale and ck-modelcars.de: Miniatures in scale 1:43 and 1:18 of the GLE Coupe are chosen, which both are produced from diecast as the main material. The small version of the four-door vehicle comes in the painting emerald green under the item number 143000000014 to the collector; the 1:18 version in obisidan black (118000000050) and limited to just 1,000 units. The mold engineers have exactly transferred the stretched proportions with short overhangs and large, flush wheels as well as its dynamic greenhouse with the elongated side window line to the two scales. Before we go into detail of the large version, we just take a look at the data of the role model, which celebrated its premiere at the IAA in 2019.
It is already the seconds crossover of coupe and SUV that Mercedes-Benz commercializes under the name GLE. A lot of detail work reduces the drag coefficient by nine percent up to cw = 0,32 compared to the predecessor. According to the brand from Stuttgart, the sources of wind noise were also eliminated. Compared to the hatchback GLE, the wheelbase is 60 millimeters shorter and the steering ratio is more direct. Mercedes-Benz classifies the C 167 as the most active driving SUV in the program. Comfort and space are, of course, not lost: Decisive centimeters more space than in the predecessor for the passengers and up to 1,790 liters luggage space and a loading area of almost two meters make the GLE Coupe spacious and versatile. Something that the also the modelcars retell in 1:18.
There, the versatility is expressed in the range of functional parts: The large tailgate as well as all four doors can be opened and offer an excellent insight to the interior, which is also perfectly equipped at the model, from the side paneling, the headlining over the seating to the dashboard. In this way, iScale has also transferred the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with an intuitive operating structure and brilliant graphics in high visual quality to the dashboard of the modelcars. Of course, the larger exclusive model also offers an opening bonnet, under which the latest generation of diesel models, cultivated, powerful, comfortable and particularly low in emissions are supposed to do their job. There is also a hybrid version.
The plug-in-hybrids of the third generation develop as a gasoline engine 350 e 4Matic-coupe 155 kW / 211 hp as well as 350 de 4Matic-coupe 143 kW / 194 hp from its four cylinders. The electric motor with 100 kW / 136 hp is to be added at both vehicles, which makes it possible in the near field to drive up to 100 kilometers only electrically. At the six-cylinder diesel engines, the customer can choose from the versions with 200 kW / 272 hp and 243 kW / 330 hp. We don't want to mention the AMG-versions now, because they don't correspond to the look of the here presented modelcars; the craftsmanship especially at the more demanding 1:18 version is excellent.
