Fans of this blog already know that our sale trailer can be visited at the Retro Classics Stuttgart since Thursday until finally Sunday: Right at the entrance of hall 4. Among the modelcars we brought to the fair are the Porsche 917's from CMR in the scales 1:43 and 1:18, which recreate the legendary vehicles from Stuttgart in the equally legendary painting of motorsports sponsor Gulf. And it gets even better: The ROFGO Gulf Heritage Collection announced its participation at the Retro Classics 2020 and is offering trade fair visitors the opportunity to see some very rare pieces in the colors from Gulf. Some of the most important cars in the collection are part of the large exhibition at the Retro Classics 2020 in Stuttgart and, thanks to their famous blue-orange, catch the eye of the iconic Gulf Oil brand.
The vehicles of the ROFGO Gulf Heritage Collection can be found in the atrium of the East Entrance. Among the vehicles are the Ford GT40, the Porsche 917 KH, the Gulf-GR8-Ford, the Aston Martin DBR9 and the very first car that wore the Gulf Racing colors: the Mirage M1. Overall, according to the organizer, no less than 23 fantastic vehicles from the 43 models in Gulf racing history can be seen live. The ROFGO Gulf Heritage Collection follows the passion and ambition of a man who has set himself the goal of creating the most extensive and historically appropriate collection of racing cars that started in the iconic Gulf painting: entrepreneur and racing driver Roald Goethe. The racing cars, which are in fact new condition - presumably better than new - are actively used and are always kept racing by ROFGO Racing.
The collection occurrenced thanks to the help and guidance of the vintage-car-guru Adrian Hamilton and is now in a specially built location in England, which also houses the car dealer of historic vehicles, DH ROFGO and ROFGO Racing. ROFGO Racing prepares the modern vehicles used worldwide under the ROFGO banner as well as its racing-capable classic cars. Although some of the cars in the collection have occasionally been presented at events in different parts of the world, the Retro Classics is a unique opportunity for lovers of historic vehicles and fans of the Gulf legend to see so many cars in one place at the same time. Isn't that another reason to plan a visit to Stuttgart this weekend? You can't really miss such an opportunity: Thanks to Roald Goethe!
The blue-orange racing cars also play an important role at ck-modelcars.de. The majority of the models make up the Porsche 917 KH from the years 1970 and 1971, whose role models went to the start in Daytona, Brands Hatch, Zeltweg, Watkins Glen, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans. The come in excellent craftsmanship from CMR in scale 1:18 and of diecast; but also in scale 1:43 some are available. Ixo offers the historical Ford GT40 in Gulf-colors, but thanks to Maisto new Ford GT from the year 2017 for example reach the trade in this color. The Opel Commodore A from tuner Steinmetz participated at the 24 Hours of Spa 1971 in the Gulf-colors: Minichamps has the suitable modelcar to this in 1:18.
