Under the item number WAP0214150K, the people from Minichamps from Aachen recently presented the miniatures for the current Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Made of high quality resin, the modelcars received the decoration of the presentation model with number 4 and are limited to 2,000 units. The vehicles, which are considered as the basis for popular sports, have been delivered since February 2019. The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is a logical further development of the successful model from Weissach, which was launched three years earlier. For the first time, the close-to-production mid-engine racer is available from the factory in two versions: as a trackday model for ambitious amateur racers and as a competition for national and international competitions. Minichamps has developed an excellent miniature in scale 1:18.

But for now, we stay with the role model: The development of the new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport focused not only on even better drivability and faster lap times, but also on the sustainable use of raw materials. The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is the first series produced racing car to feature biofiber composite body panels. The driver's and front passenger's doors as well as the rear wing are made of a natural fiber mix, which primarily consists of agricultural residues such as flax or hemp fibers and has similar properties in terms of weight and stiffness as carbon fiber. The 718 GT4 Clubsport is powered by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with 313 kW / 425 hp. Compared to its predecessor, this means a plus of 30 kW / 40 hp. The maximum torque is 425 Newton meters (Nm).

The transfer of power to the rear wheels of the not approved for the road sports car takes over a Porsche dual-clutch transmission with six gears and mechanical rear-axle-cross-lock. The lightweight strut front suspension comes from the big brother 911 GT3 Cup. The generously dimensioned racing brake system is equipped with diameter of the front and rear of each 380 mm large steel brake discs. With 1,320 kilograms, the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, which comes standard with a welded-in safety cage, a racing shell seat, and 6-point harnesses, is a real lightweight. Before we talk about the two variants, let's say that our friends from KÜS Team75 Bernhard are using a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport with regular driver Horst Hadergasser in the ADAC GT4 Germany.

But now to the two different versions of the current Cayman GT4 Clubsport: The base variant Trackday aims as mentioned on amateur pilots who want to use the race car easily at private race track events and club sport events. The vehicle has a fixed shock absorber setting, which, in combination with the optional ABS, ESC and traction control assistance systems, ensures good-natured handling at the limit. Also included as standard are an air conditioning system, a rescue hatch in the roof, a hand-held fire extinguisher and an 80-liter FT3 safety tank. The vehicle can get a service in all Porsche Centers. The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trackday cost 134,000 euros plus country-specific VAT.

The Competition model has a number of competitive features. So the shock absorbers are three times adjustable. The safety tank with 115 liters capacity is also suitable for long distance races. The brake balance can be infinitely adjusted via a balance beam system between the front and rear axles. Fast pit stops are guaranteed by the integrated air lifting system. The detachable racing steering wheel from the 911 GT3 R ensures a wide range of adjustments in the driver's immediate field of vision. For even better safety in racing, there is an automatic fire extinguishing system. The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport Competition cost 157,000 euros plus VAT. The modelcars are then more affordable, to which the passion of Porsche was transferred by Minichamps in format 1:18: quality = podium, 1st place.
