It is a novelty in a double sense: first, because the model is planned for transporting cars as a trailer from NZG and new on the market, and secondly such a detailed thing was never available. At the toy fair in Nuremberg 2019, NZG has presented with the car transporter in scale 1:18  a very special desirable modelcar in this segment. The Actros GigaSpace acts as the miniature towing vehicle, but the actual highlight is the matching trailer for seven car models. The reduction of the complete car transporter measures proud 113 centimeters in lenght, so 1.1 meter (!) and weighs 10 kilograms. The so far prevailing standard format in the field of commercial vehicle models is the scale 1:50, but we know that many collectors have wished more.

The fans of car models in scale 1:18 wanted a different way of presenting their cars: What stands out more than a trailer with seven Mercedes-Benz G-Class models for example? Apparently taking this understandable need into account, Mercedes-Benz has developed a scale 1:18 trailer in cooperation with the renowned model vehicle manufacturer NZG, opening up new horizons. We already know the tractor unit: It was made out of diecast and offers opening doors and hoods as well as a tiltable cab with lighting. This fits the 96.5 centimeters car transporter, which also has all the features of the original. The car transporter can be loaded with up to seven Mercedes-Benz model cars from the wide portfolio in scale 1:18.

Ten month of development were needed for realising the trailier with a total height of 22.5 centimeters and a width of 13.7. It consists out of 500 pieces, among them 80 plastic, 167 zinc and 32 etched parts as well as 225 screws, pins and tools. The vehicle platforms and the loading ramps for the lower and upper floor are produced out of highquality metal - including the characteristic hole structure. All parts at the original are correspondingly useable at the model. Even the control levers for the ramps and at the central axis are reproduced faithfully and protected by movable covers. Against the background of this flood of details and parts, the collector also understands that this model does not exist for a small price.

The tractor unit in review

The Actros tractor unit already existed in 1:18 as a special model, Edition 1, presented at the Nfz-IAA 2018 in Hanover. Now the tractor unit was advanced and adapted to the appearance of the real truck in the color combination silver / black. You recognize the new Actros immediately at its characteristic mirror cams. This aerodynamically optimized camera mirror system replaces the big side mirrors, which we usually know from the big commercial vehicles. 59 zinc, 225 plastic and 10 etched parts and 154 screws, pins and tools are installed in the vehicle converted from the original. The trailer is able to be mounted to the older Actros model because of a conversion kit. Tractor unit and car transporter came both individual as well as a set to the market.
