The ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring is not just a car race. It is the biggest race on the longest and toughest race track in the world, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Whoever stands at the top of the podium here is recognised in the motorsport world. This race is special not only because of the unique up-and-down track through the Eifel forests, but also because of the very special weather conditions. Due to the length of the track, one part of the 25.378-kilometre asphalt strip is often dry while the other is raining - an incredible challenge for drivers and team strategists alike.

The 24h Nürburgring has been captivating fans and drivers from all over the world for over 50 years now, but the typical Eifel weather has not been as merciless as this year for a long time. By 11.20 pm, the gathering fog had become so thick that it was impossible to continue the race. The teams had been travelling for just seven hours - and there was only one more very short gallop to come. The fog lifted with such difficulty that only five laps could be completed behind the lead car around midday before the black and white chequered flag brought the shortest 24-hour race of all time to an end.
