In the coming weeks much more will be written about the fall out the Berlin Wall than in the last time: In the night from November 9th to 10th in 1989, the 28 year division of Germany has ended and especially Berlin with the opening of the wall and its border crossing. The ministerial bill on a new travel law reached the responsible for a relevant press conference SED Politburo member Günter Schabowski. Schabowski, however, was not present at the previous deliberations in Politburo and Central Committee and thus knew nothing of the lock-up deadline of 4:00 am in the morning. The question of a journalist, from when the regulation applies, which make it possible for every citizen of the GDR to travel over border crossing points of the GDR, led ultimately to the kit from Revell to the Trabant 601.
The traditional toymaker and modelcar manufacturer delivered a set with the building set of a Trabant and a Diorama in form of a 3D-puzzle, which reminds to the night of the reunion and therefore fits fantastically with Throwback Thursday. The set includes a perfectly made modelcar, which matches the form and appearance of the legendary national car of the GDR in scale 1:24 and exists of 138 parts in total. Also included are the base colors, glue and brush; Instructions and decals are also included. Revell claims that it is suitable for kids from 12 and over and measures 26.5 centimeters in length; 31.5 there are in width, 22 centimeters in height. The pictures to the kit show how lovingly and authentically body and interior have been developed. Readers of our blog know that the engine of a miniature is a top priority for us.
And also with this point, the modelcar from the building kit can convince, but also knows how to inspire with an impeccable design from bumpers, rear lights and attachment parts. We also like the diorama with the picture of the Brandenburg Gate 1989 - today it actually looks better - and a part of the wall, through which the model of the Trabant drives staged martial. The real Trabants didn not have to do this, but could pass the open border crossing. But now back to the question of the journalist, mentioned above: "When does this come into force? ... That occurs to my knowledge - immediately!" answered Schabowski at 6:57 pm with the reading of the paper previously given to him by Egon Krenz on the new travel law, which resulted in the immediate onslaught of the people on the border crossings and the reunification.
