1970 was almost like a year of destiny for the sport car builder Ferrari, because to be able to compete in motorsport against the overwhelming competition from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Enzo Ferrari had sold a year earlier shares of his homonymous company to the Fiat Group. The patriarch invested a portion of the revenue in the construction of a five-seater sports car to fight against Porsche as in Le Mans. The regulations required 25 pieces had to be produce. Ferrari produced the racing cars, which were named 512S, in different bodies. The Long tail version has been given the additional name Coda Lunga and is the model for the latest model car from the small-series label CMR, which delivers several miniatures to the classic from Maranello, from 368 kW / 500 HP up to 441 kW / 600 HP.

Ferrari also sent the 512S to the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1970. Altogether, the S.p.A. Ferrari SEFAC raced with four vehicles and thus also against the vehicles of the customer teams. These included the team North American Racing, which started the Ferrari 512S with the starting number 11 and thus also the most successful participant with the Fünfliter-V12. The US riders Ronnie Bucknum and Sam Posey finished the race after finishing 313 rounds in 4th place overall. However, the team of the Porsche KG Salzburg with Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood on the steering wheel was the overall winner. The Porsche Austria Team was the winner After 343 laps: the first overall victory for Porsche and a triple triumph for the Stuttgart team. But now back to our Ferrari model cars.

The second specimen, which CMR delivers, with a perfectly matched appearance in the size 1:18, carries the starting number 5. The model was used by Ferrari with the Swiss Peter Schetty and the Belgian Jacky Ickx and reached with 142 laps still the 25th place in the overall rating, although they fell out because of an accident at night. At this point, he was second. Despite the history of their prototypes, the model cars are characterized by a particularly appearance, matching the original, and a surface finish that can’t be beat. Thanks to the transparent engine cover, the collector perfectly sees the twelve intake funnels as well as the exhaust manifolds. First class replicated: the cockpit. All in all, CMR is using the Ferrari 512S, which means that a new label can also deliver cutting-edge work.
