One of the most famous models in this series is the Lancia Delta S4 #7, driven to victory at the 1986 Monte Carlo Rally by Henri Toivonen and Sergio Cresto. The Delta S4 is considered the epitome of the legendary Group B era. With all-wheel drive, a supercharger, and a turbocharger, the S4 was a technical masterpiece. Toivonen's victory in Monte Carlo was a high point of this era – tragically overshadowed by the duo's fatal accident later that year.
No less iconic is the Lancia Delta HF Integrale #4, which won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1992 with Didier Auriol and Bernard Occelli at the wheel. The Integrale was the dominant car of the early 1990s and secured Lancia a total of six consecutive World Rally Championship titles – a record that remains unbroken to this day. The model in scale 1:24 depicts the car in its distinctive Martini livery, representing one of the most successful periods in the history of the World Rally Championship.
Another piece of motorsport history is the Audi Quattro A2 #1, winner of the 1984 Rally Sweden with Stig Blomqvist and Björn Cederberg. The Quattro was the car that established all-wheel drive in rallying and ushered in a new era. The victory in Sweden – traditionally one of the toughest snow rallies on the calendar – was a testament to Audi's technical superiority.
Things got even more spectacular a year later when Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer won the 1985 Sanremo Rally in the Audi Sport Quattro S1 #5. With its short body and over 500 hp, the S1 was the ultimate Group B car – brutal, uncompromising, and captivating.
Another iconic car is the Fiat 131 Abarth #10, winner of the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally, also driven by Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer. This victory marked the beginning of Röhrl's path to his first World Rally Championship title. The 131 Abarth is considered one of the most technically sophisticated cars of its time and spearheaded Fiat's rally involvement.
Also part of the current series is the BMW M3 E30 #10, winner of the 1987 Tour de Corse with Bernard Béguin and Jean-Jacques Lenne. The M3 symbolized a transitional era – less brutal than the Group B monsters, but technically state-of-the-art and virtually unbeatable on asphalt.
Finally, Altaya also offers the Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC #6, winner of the 1979 Bandama Rally, driven by Hannu Mikkola and Arne Hertz. This car represents a time when large, heavy cars were still successfully used in marathon rallies – long, grueling stages in Africa where reliability mattered more than sheer power.
Altaya's entire rally collection showcases the diversity of rally history. From the robust vehicles of the late 1970s, through the legendary Group B cars of the 1980s, to the technically sophisticated WRC cars of the 1990s, an impressive arc is spanned. The models not only convey motorsport history but also illustrate the technological advancements and the evolution of regulations over time.
For collectors, these Altaya models offer a great opportunity to experience significant chapters of the World Rally Championship in scale 1:24. Each model is produced to Altaya's usual high standards and reflects the original as accurately as possible.
