The 2020 Formula 1-season will be remembered by most as another year of dominance from Lewis Hamilton. He had eleven wins this season and a historic seventh world championship title after the 17 world championship races. In contrast to previous seasons, the Brit already felt pressure from Red Bull driver Max Verstappen in 2020. With two wins and nine more podium places, the Dutchman was able to move further and further into the foreground.

Things got particularly tricky for the seven-time world champion at his home Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit. In a dramatic race, several drivers were set back by tire damage. Hamilton, who had been leading so far, also dramatically suffered a puncture on the front left on the last lap.

Verstappen was then able to drastically reduce his deficit in the final lap of the race. However, the puncture of his British opponent's tire came too late for the Dutchman. Although the lead literally melted away, Hamilton saved his Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 across the finish line just six seconds ahead of Verstappen.
