In January 2023, the racing season began victoriously for model entrepreneur Christoph Krombach. Together with Daniel Gregor, Benito Tagle and Patrik Grütter, Krombach drove to class victory in the TCX class in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport from Sorg Rennsport. Krombach and Gregor's season began victoriously before winning the title in class 1b of the Porsche Endurance Challenge in October.
The founder of ck-modelcars will also be competing at the 24h Dubai in January 2024. Krombach doesn't let the short-term postponement of the race by two weeks stop him. “The postponement cost me a lot of nerves, but I am still happy that I will be taking part in the 24-hour race in Dubai with the Sorg Brothers this year,” said Krombach.
Krombach will once again drive a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport for Sorg Rennsport, which will compete in the TCX class. Christoph Krombach shares the Cayman with Benito Tagle from Mexico, the American José Garcia, Gero Bauknecht from Switzerland and the German GT3-ace Patrick Kolb. The special thing about the vehicle is clearly the design: the Porsche gets a CK look with the colors red and white. Of course, the logos of ck-modelcars and WERK83 should not be missing!
The goal of the five pilots is clear: they want to repeat their class victory in the TCX class. The team has also set itself the goal of fighting for victory in the TC category – the supercategory of the TCX class. But the entire team agrees: To finish first you have to finish first.
Krombach: “I’m looking forward to the desert adventure and 24h Dubai together with Sorg Rennsport. After our successful performance last year, we would like to defend our class victory with the Cayman GT4 CS and start the year 2024 successfully.”
The race starts on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. Central European Time). Before that, the official training sessions, night training and the three-part qualifying take place on Friday. In qualifying, three pilots have to set a lap time, which is then used to calculate the average time that determines the starting place. On the previous days, the teams have further testing opportunities at the Dubai Autodrome. From qualifying onwards, all sessions can be followed livestreamed on the 24H Series YouTube channel.
