At the time, hardly anyone expected that the Dutchman would make it to the top step of the podium 18 more times over the course of the season.

As the title holder of the previous two years, Max Verstappen went into the new season as the biggest favorite. But the competition was well positioned. Teammate Sergio Perez was initially able to hold a candle to his Dutch stablemate and Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin was also hot on the heels of the Red Bull Racing drivers.

At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Max Verstappen beat his teammate from Mexico and Alonso. His lead over the runner-up was a whopping twelve seconds. “We really expected it to be tight in Bahrain compared to the other teams and I think we were all pleasantly surprised at how good the car was there,” he remembers.

In keeping with the abbreviation “RB19”, it was perfect that Max Verstappen achieved a total of 19 victories – Grand Prix victories, mind you! The impressive statistics do not even include the gains he achieved in the sprint runs.

The combination of Max Verstappen and the Red Bull RB19 was a guarantee for records - including the most successes in a row. With his victory in Monza, he replaced Sebastian Vettel with the most wins in a row. The Dutchman won in Italy for the tenth time in a row.

Minichamps has brought an impressive model car onto the market that commemorates the first of the 19 victories of the season. The number is limited to 555 copies. We think: 575 would almost have been more appropriate, after all, 575 points were how Verstappen ended the season.
