Goerge Russel has been competing in Formula 1 since 2019. The Brit is not an old hand but no longer a real newcomer. Like many of his peers, his career began in karting. Through formula racing in the Formula 4 Championship and the European Formula 3 series and the FIA Formula 2 Championship, he finally made it into the Williams cockpit, where he was allowed to sit from 2019-2021. With the FW43B, the label Minichamps has launched Russel's vehicle from 2021 in the scales 1:18 and 1:43. The model in scale 1:18 has a faithful replica of the cockpit including the George Russel driver figure. The model, produced exclusively for ck-modelcars, is limited to just 150 pieces. The FW43B is delivered in this scale in a high-quality collector's folding box. The smaller model on a scale of 1:43 has also been produced exclusively for ck-modelcars and has a quantity of 333 pieces. Here the delivery takes place in a high-quality high cover collector's outer packaging. The lettering commemorating the late team boss Frank Williams has also found its place on both models true to scale.
When Russel joined Williams in 2019, he was teammates with Robert Kubica. In his first season, in which he was the only driver without a point, he was not able to celebrate any great successes. In the 2020 season, Nicholas Latifi became a new teammate alongside Russel. At the Sachir Grand Prix, Russel even led the race for a relatively long time before his team made a mistake during the pit stop that dropped him to ninth place. The strange thing about this race was that Russel started as a substitute driver in the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, who had tested positive for COVID-19. George Russel drove the first fastest lap of his Formula 1-career in this race and also scored the first 3 points of his career. In 2021, too, Russel and Latifi formed the driver pairing that started the season with the Williams FW43B, which was produced by Minichamps with great attention to detail. Second place at the Belgian GP behind Max Verstappen secured Russel his first career podium, albeit with only half the points normally awarded. The reason for this was that the race was abandoned after less than 75% of the scheduled race time due to excessive rain. In the 2022 season, Russel signed a contract with Mercedes and finished fourth overall at the end of the season.
The vehicle designation FW43B was developed based on the late team boss Frank Williams. The FW43B is powered by a 1.6 liter V6 engine from Mercedes, which is supported by a 120 kW electric motor. With the paint finish in the basic colors white and blue, Williams would like to commemorate the successes of the 80s and 90s. Since some parts of the previous year's car could be taken over, it was deliberately decided to add the addition of a B version to the previous year's model FW43 when designating the FW43B.
