Two of the starting racing nine-elevens presented themselves in the historic design of the "good old days" and evoked memories of the rough past of endurance racing.
The 911 RSR with starting number 92, driven by Michael Christensen, Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, attracted the attention of the media and spectators. The reason for this was the design comeback of the unforgettable pink “Porsche pig”. The paintwork for the 917/20 coupe starting in Le Mans was developed by Anatole Lapine in 1971 and shows all the individual parts of a pig, from the snout over the shoulder to the knuckle, in the manner of a butcher. But unlike the “truffle hunter” at the time, the three factory drivers secured victory in the LMGTE-Pro in 2018 after a flawless race.
In the sister car with starting number 91, Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Lietz and Frédéric Makowiecki sat behind the wheel. The successful trio put the 911 on pole position in the GTE-Pro class in qualifying and thus ensured the very best starting conditions for the 24-hour race. The blue and white design with the red and gold stripes of the pole setter paid homage to Porsche's successful Le Mans race in the 1980s. During that decade, the team in the colors of the Rothmans cigarette brand managed to win the overall victory in one of the most demanding endurance races in the world a total of four times. The legendary one-two followed more than 30 years later and the drivers of the historic-looking Porsche 911 RSR with the number 91 saw the checkered flag in second place in the GTE-Pro class.
The models in scale 1:18 of the two racing cars from Ixo offer double Le Mans history and are an absolute highlight for every expert, collector and fan. In addition, the models were voted “Model Car of the Year 2021” in the “Modellfahrzeug” readers’ poll.

The following year, the Porsche 911 RSR from Project 1 with starting number 56 wore a unique design. The contemporary artist Richard Phillips, who is himself a Porsche enthusiast and amateur racing driver, designed the helmet for Porsche works driver Jörg Bergmeister in 2013. This gave rise to the idea of a complete vehicle design.
The 911 featured greatly enlarged facial details from the American artist's best-known works. A striking gimmick for the night were the almost laser-like eyes on the rear, which – mounted directly below the headlights – taught the pursuers to fear.
A special effect that maybe also contributed to Egidio Perfetti, Patrick Lindsey and Jörg Bergmeister achieving the victory in the LMGTE Am-class with the motorized work of art. If you can't get enough of the numerous details of the winning car, you'll get exactly the right model with the high-quality Ixo replica on a scale of 1:18 or 1:43.
