12.09.2021Solido expands its range with the second BMW M3 of its time

The BMw M3 E36 by Solido has newly arrived in our shop. With the model series E36, it is about the second M3 series that was released to the market by the car manufacturer from Bavaria. In contrast to its predecessor (the E30 M3), the E36 was not originally designed for motorsport, but also for the road right from the start. The scale 1:18 model by Solido is available in Daytona purple. In addition to an interior that is true to the original, it has steerable front wheels and doors that can be opened. Due to its good price-performance ratio, this M3 from 1994 is a must for the domestic modelcar collections.

The BMW M3 (E36) was presented to the public for the first time in the summer of 1992 at the Mondial de l'Automobile. The second M3, which BMW had meanwhile equipped with a high-speed in-line-six-cylinder, was intended to appeal to a wider target group than its predecessor, the M3 (E30). From the beginning of 1994 the M3 (E36) was also offered as a convertible. Then in mid-1994 as a four-door sedan. Until BMW offered the E90 as a sedan in 2008, the E36 was the only M3 of which this variant existed for a long time. The M3 was produced as the E36 until 1999 in a number of just over 71,000 units, before it was replaced by the model series E46.

The high-speed in-line six-cylinder in the M3 (E36) initially developed 286 hp with a displacement of 3 liters. At the end of 1995 the engine was exchanged for a 3.2 liter engine with 321 hp. In 1996 the series was supplemented by an automatic transmission, making it the first large-scale production vehicle with an automated manual transmission. Anyone who wanted to get hold of a really rare specimen found it between the end of 1994 and mid-1995. During this time there was the M3 GT, limited to 356 pieces. However, this was only delivered in the paintwork British Racing Green (color code 312) and the interior color Mexico green.
