The sixth race in 1984 started on 3 June; which motorsport fans will remember in particular for the rain that persisted right from the morning.  Starting from last place on the grid, Stefan Bellof did not have much chance of scoring points on the narrow street circuit on the Mediterranean. But the rain and his talent for pushing a car to the limit were to take over: On the 28th lap, Stefan was already in third place directly behind Senna, having overtaken stars such as Arnoux, Rosberg and de Angelis.
Stefan drove like he was unleashed, but on lap 31 the race director cancelled the Monaco Grand Prix, thus destroying all of Stefan's chances of winning.

At the end of the 1984 season, the Tyrrell team was subsequently disqualified and officially lost the points they had scored in the World Championship
