The Steyr XXX (1929) was the only vehicle that Ferdinand Porsche developed during the short time at Steyr (he was there only one year as technical director). In this short time, however, F. Porsche laid the basis for many innovations in the Steyr works.

This is also the case with the engine of the Steyr XXX: The special thing about the engine was the engine control - this is done by a camshaft attached to the side and helical toothed control wheels - a simple and inexpensive design that was still used by many manufacturers until the 1970s. Built up to 1932 there was a multitude of body variants such as a four-door convertible, a six-seater double Phaeton, a four-door sedan and a two- to three-seater special luxury convertible. The famous Steyr 45 taxi was identical in construction.
