The refined, Italian small series label - self spelled - LookSmart offers the collectors a very special treat, a very special specialty from the world of sports car construction, model cars of the Ferrari 812 Superfast in 1:43 scale. The coupe, presented at the Geneva Motor Show and accessories 2017, is the official successor of the Ferrari F12. The history of his name dates back to the 1960s: in 1964, the sport car maker with the Ferrari 500 Superfast Series 1 presented the forefather of today's top car. On the gasoline engine, the 812 Superfast is the most powerful sports car ever built. The Gran Turismo has a front and longitudinally mounted V12 with an output of 588 kW / 800 HP, of which however with the Resine in the format 1:43 appeared model is not much to be seen.
Doors and hoods of these miniatures, which have so far appeared in four colors, are not intended for opening, as is the case with all the car models made of this polyurethane casting resin. Does it have to be? No, because the very carefully and very knowledgefully reproduced details draw the full attention of the observer on the outer skin. The frame of the radiator grille in a carbon replica, which we find in the material supply also at the thresholds below the doors as well as at the Heckdiffusor. Nevertheless, it would be nice if we could see something from the engine: from an impressive twelve-cylinder engine with 6.5 liters displacement, venting 48 valves and 718 Newtonmeter (Nm) maximum torque on the rear wheels. According to Ferrari, 80 percent of this is already at 3,500 rpm.
Excellent imitation details
This interpretation is intended to improve the drivability especially at low engine speeds, according to Ferrari. On the outside, the model car takes account of the performance data of its model by means of the so-called Aeropaketes, which LookSmart has minimized. A masterpiece is also the replicas of the rims and the brake system behind it. However, the design of the faucet panel with the leather seams is much more eye-catching in a contrasting color, which can be easily recognized by the perfectly fitting windshield. In this respect the fan can not complain anyway: the glazing gives a sufficiently well-designed view into the interior with the high-quality replicated seats and the side panels.
Technical subtleties of the model
LookSmart is, of course, known in collectors' circles as a quality label and fulfills the associated expectations also with the model of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, whose appearance has been perfectly transferred to the model. Let's go back to the model: all-wheel steering and seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions are further technical treats that the owners of the Ferrari's 340-km-fast flagship can enjoy. The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari to introduce the Electric Power Steering (EPS). The introduction of the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system (PCV) combines the electric front wheel steering with the mechanical concept based on tire dimensions and rear wheel steering. Agility and response time to steering wheel impacts are thus to be improved. And, are you hungry?
