The opening-Grand-Prix in Bahrain was a solo show of Max Verstappen and Red Bull, but the portfolio of the models shows that the winner cars and underdogs are equally collectible - from all epochs. Here are a few examples.

The beginnings:
1950 marks the first year of the Formula 1 World Championship. Back then, Alfa Romeo was the strongest force. Giuseppe Farina clinched the first world title – with safety standards for cars, racetracks and driver equipment that are frightening from today's perspective. Even the sight of a model car from that time gives an idea of the risks that drivers took on back then. This is also the case with the Alfa Romeo by Giuseppe Farina, which is part of the collection.

The Aero-experiments:
In the 1970s, Formula 1-cars grew really big wings for the first time. In the same decade, however, the aerodynamicists dug even deeper into their bag of tricks and brought many memorable ideas to the racetrack. This includes the six-wheeled Tyrell P34, which was used in 1976 and 1977 and which was supposed to bring aerodynamic advantages with its four small front wheels. Jody Scheckter even won the Swedish Grand Prix in Anderstorp in 1976 with the P34.
Just as striking as the three axles on the Tyrell was the distinctive propeller at the rear of the Brabham BT46B from 1978, which was intended to generate the ground effect that was so important at the time. Niki Lauda also won a race with the "Fan Car" - also in Anderstorp by the way - before it was later declared illegal. Both exotics are part of the range.

The Schumacher era:
Michael Schumacher's legendary status will probably last forever. The range of models for the outstanding successes of the Kerpener is correspondingly large. This includes Schumacher's second world champion car, the Benetton from 1995. After the very close finale against Damon Hill last year, Schumacher quickly kept the Brit at bay and secured his second world championship crown in the third to last race.
Also available is one of the most successful Formula 1-cars in history, the Ferrari F2002. With him, Michael Schumacher achieved the fifth of seven world titles and the third with the Scuderia. He and teammate Rubens Barrichello won all but two races in 2002.

Lewis Hamilton's first successes:
The 2008 World Cup final in Brazil is one of the most dramatic in history. In the chaotic weather shortly before the end of the race, Felipe Massa had already crossed the finish line in the Ferrari as the likely world champion when Lewis Hamilton reversed the decision by overtaking Timo Glock in the last corner and still snagged his first world title. Last year, Hamilton narrowly lost the World Cup to Kimi Raikkonen at the same place. The world champion cars from Hamilton and Raikkonen from the two years are part of the range.

The Modern Age:
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are probably the worst rivals in modern Formula 1. This was mainly due to the 2021 season, which was peppered with controversy, including the unforgettable final in Abu Dhabi. The model range includes, for example, Verstappen's first winning car from 2016 and the last world champion Mercedes from 2019 to have been held in silver.
