The Mercedes-Benz with the internal model designation W 113 belongs to the probably most beautiful roadsters of all times: The car with its vertical headlights ranks third in the history of the Mercedes-Benz SL, which is still very popular today; or the second, depending on your point of view, because the W 113 retired the two series W 194 and W 121 B II together in 1963 and enriched the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer's sales program until 1971. Many fans know and use rather the nickname Pagode instead of naked numbers, which received the style-icon because of its inwardly curved shape of the hardtop. Schuco has reduced the legendary cabriolet into scale 1:18 and delivers a fantastic finish at a very fair price, wearing the designation 280 SL, which left the production band from 1968 to 1971 23,885 times.

A total of 48,912 vehicles from this Mercedes-Benz SL series were built. In terms of safety, it offered highly topical features at this time: These included a stiffened passenger cell, crumple zones, radial tires, disc brakes and optionally available seat belts. The modelcars from Schuco offer many details for the money: hoods and doors that can be opened all around, a removable soft top, the excitingly elegant color burgundy-red and a replica of the engine from the 280 SL, which can more than compete with comparable more expensive models. The six-cylinder in-line engine extracts 125 kW / 170 hp from its 2.8 liter displacement and finds a replica honoring it in the modelcars, that's how good the cylinder head cover, intake manifold, spark plug wiring and ancillary units are: a big compliment goes to the makers of Schuco.

This applies also to the high quality replica of the multicolored dashboard, which not only shows adorably instruments and decorative elements, but also the ignition key. Window cranks, handles, the sun visors, the gear lever of the automatic: nothing has been forgotten! Not even the corresponding lettering that refers to the four-speed automatic. 195 kilometers per hour were specified for the 280 SL at the time; Thanks to its maximum torque of 240 Newton meters (Nm), it accelerated to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds. As expected, the modelcars with item number 450035800 also convince in terms of the quality of the body and appearance: One final reason for this, no longer waiting to secure one of the only 1,000 diecast car models.
