Throwback Thursday: Plymouth Barracuda AAR

back to blog overview

GMP has taken a look far back into the 1970s and found attractive role models for high quality detailed made modelcars in scale 1:18

Modelcars from GMP and Greenlight, still have something of a happy beach party, because with its color variety, in which the miniatures appear, they spread comparably good mood at the viewer. That also counts for the published Plymouth Barracuda AAR by GMP in sublime green. The modelcars with the item number 1806113 and in scale 1:18 orientate itself at the 1970 presented, third and last generation of the model series called Barracuda, which was built from 1964 to 1974. The models of the two-door-coupe are produced of diecast and exist with openable doors and hoods as well as with steerable front wheels and a very detailed interior. The poppy green painted version in the time of the 1970s appears in a limited edition of 540 units.

Let's take a look at the role model at todays Throwback Thursday, which we celebrate today with the hashtag of the same name. The Chrysler-based brand Plymouth donated a completely new version of the suspension to the third generation of the Barracuda, which was shorter and wider than the previously used B platform and was called e-chassis. On this basis, the customer of the muscle car was given the opportunity to decide in the engine between two six and six eight-cylinder engines. The role models of our modelcars, the Plymouth Barracuda AAR, have been used by the team All American Racers of Dan Gurney and Carrol Shelby in the American Trans Am-series as a modelled version, under the bonnet of the 5.6 liter V8 200 kW / 271 hp did his service. The logo of AAR we find laterally behind.

The engine gives 421 Nm of maximum torque to the rear wheels. According to the contemporary taste, GMP retold the matt black bonnet and the black decorative stripes on the sides in an exemplary manner. The V8 engine is reproduced multicolored and impresses with its depth of detail, especially in the area of the air filter and the wiring. Radiator cap and extra emphasized in color. The finish that GMP uses to produce these modelcars is also familiar from the miniatures of the past and those that appear at the same time, such as the Plymouth Hemi Cuda Dragcar 1971, the Dodge Dart GTS 440 1969 and the Chevrolet Camaro Z / 28 Convertible 1968. In terms of color, however, the here presented AAR is our favorite; a feast for the senses of friends of hp-strong muscle cars and the 1970s.
