Book:
24 hours Nürburgring Nordschleife 2005
by Ulrich Upietz
Great events cast their shadows ahead. This was also the case with the 33rd edition of the International ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race. However, the shadows had gathered in the form of dark, threatening clouds over the colourful hustle and bustle of the starting grid, which was celebrated like a festival as always. Just in time for the start of the formation lap, Peter had opened the floodgates and turned the race into a top-class sporting event. Lots of rain, some hail, even a bit of driving snow, but also sunshine, temperatures around freezing point with freezing wetness during the night, made the teams' tyre managers the decisive persons. BMW driver Hans-Joachim Stuck put it in a nutshell: "The old saying was true again: 'If you can't see the Nürburg from the paddock, then the weather is bad. If you can see the Nürburg, then the weather will be bad!"Take a look back at this race, remember how hard the second BMW one-two in a row was fought and what problems the favourites and the chasers had to contend with. Read how racers became swimmers, speed skaters, dancers, sprinters or fencers.Learn more about truly royal pleasure, the future at the Nordschleife and the "secret" of the blue lamp! This book accompanies the drivers on their twice-around-the-clock chase, describes successes and defeats, reports about cars and people. And also about a new sole world record holder!
