Daniel Gregor in the Carrera Cup: Unlucky weekend on the streets in Nuremberg

Daniel Gregor in the Carrera Cup: Unlucky weekend on the streets in Nuremberg

back to blog overview

The fourth racing weekend of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany on the Norisring had some challenges in store for Daniel Gregor and the team of Team75 Bernhard.

The season races seven and eight in Germany's most powerful brands-cup are behind Team75 Bernhard driver Daniel Gregor. The 21-year-old's race debut at the Norisring was on the agenda. However, it turned out to be more difficult than he could have imagined.

After a successful double podium finish at the third round of the season in Zandvoort, Gregor traveled to the legendary Norisring with high expectations, but quickly realized that a difficult weekend lay ahead. Gregor finished 23rd in the first qualifying session, which posed a significant challenge for the first race on the narrow street circuit in Nuremberg. However, the Porsche driver made the most of the situation and executed some strong overtaking maneuvers. He ultimately crossed the finish line in 19th place overall and narrowly missed the podium in the rookie classification with a fourth-place finish.

"From my difficult starting position, I was able to make up a few places. All in all, it was a decent race. Tomorrow we'll have a slightly better starting position, so the motto is: 'Get to the front!'" said Gregor after the first race of the weekend.

Starting 20th in race two, Gregor was in the perfect position to attack all the way. The driver from the Palatinate region succeeded in doing so at the start of the race and immediately gained two places. However, his race came to an abrupt end after ten minutes when he was involved in a collision through no fault of his own and had to retire his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

"Unfortunately, my race ended very early. I had contact with a competitor in the hairpin, which was a real shame. Especially since, in my opinion, it was unnecessary. Not a good end to our weekend," said a dejected Daniel Gregor.

The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland begins the second half of the season at the Nürburgring from August 8th to 10th.
