Tip for the 24 Hours of Spa 2020: Modelcars from the previous years

back to blog overview

Again a race weekend without spectators, but with a good opportunity, closing open gaps in the collection

On the next weekend, October 22nd to 25th, the 24 Hour Race of Spa-Francorchamps is going to take place in the Beldium Stavelot. The event, which was postponed to the weekend of the time change due to the ongoing corona crisis, should extend over 25 hours, but will now only take place for 24 hours. And this without any spectators at the track, because Belgium as well as Germany are considered a risk area. The event is part of the Endurance Cup of the GT-World-Challenge GTWC Europe as well as of the Intercontinetal GT Challenge IGTC, the inofficial GT3-World-Championship. In the previous year, 72 cars were registered; for the 2020 version it is only 56 GT3-vehicles. While the test drives are running since yesterday, the main race is going to start on Saturday, 3:30 pm. We take a look at the modelcars of the previous years.

In the webshop, the Golden Autumn-action is currently running, where one gets 10 percent off of all miniatures. Collectors of the models from the racing cars of the previous years benefit from this as well as those fans who want to complete the starting field of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Our highlights: This includes the modelcars from the previous year with the starting number 20, of the Porsche 911 GT3 R by GPX-Racing, that are exclusively available at ck-modelcars.de; it is the miniature with the finish line dirty version and a limitation of 222 pieces, which is available under the item number SB251CKAR. A real blast, because Spark really transferred the dirty racing conditions into the scale of 1:43. We have dedicated a detailed report to these modelcars via the link embedded here. A very interesting article!

Let us continue with the starting number 37 and the BMW M6 GT3 of the team 3Y Technology from 2019, which is already available from the same manufacturer also in 1:43 and in a rare edition of just 300 units (SB278). Participants of this type of vehicle are also available for Walkenhorst Motorsport with starting numbers 34 and 36 in the shop, limited to 500 and 300 models each (SB257, SB280). At the 24h Spa 2019, the drivers Loïc Deman, Angélique Detavernier, Marc Duez and Stéphane Lémeret paid tribute to the year 1969 with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR in the corresponding livery with the starting number 50, for which Spark produced 750 models; a real eye catcher (SB276). At Spa in 1987 the BMW M3 of the glorious E30 series of the Bastos Racing Team catapults us back, for which Ixo still supplies modelcars (GTM129). We keep our fingers crossed for the starters 2020!
